Below is a general outline of our schedule for the weekend’s workshop. You will receive a welcoming packet and detailed schedule prior to the weekend, as well as handouts and your own aromatic creation to take home.

Friday – May 20, 2022

Afternoon – arrive at Elderberry’s, set up camp/settle-in, explore the farm and gardens and breathe the mountain air. Relax into the calm surroundings and unwind.

Evening – 5 p.m. Community Potluck and Opening Circle

6 p.m. Orientation: Sacred Scents Workshop presentation by Kathryn Delaney: bringing together historical aromatic extraction methods with the growing field of Subtle Aromatherapy and composing natural perfumes. This evening we will also prepare and set up our equipment, and plan for the next morning.

Saturday – May 21, 2022

Morning session: Meet at 8 a.m. for a brief morning meditation prior to collecting aromatic flowers from Elderberry’s. Plant preparation and garbling of material. Begin cold enfleurage and explain process.

Lunch & Siesta: 11 a.m. -1 p.m. An organic light meal will be provided.

Afternoon session: 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. Language of Aromatics and Subtle Aromatherapy. We will explore various essential oils by the avenue of “proving” them via the language of scent.

Evening: Feel free to explore the garden or enjoy the near-by trails as you percolate the information from the day. Journal, stretch, move, explore, take this time for yourself to be in this quiet valley. We have many local good spots to eat in our local community of Paonia.

We may also have a gathering by the fire-pit if the weather allows, and people are interested, so bring your goodies to make smores. : )

Sunday ~ May 22, 2022

Morning session: Gather at 8:30 a.m. for a brief meditation prior to beginning our morning activities. 9 a.m. Composing Blends: I will briefly discuss the safety and toxicology of essential oils, and we will experience a range of essential oils having levels of intensity, depths, and dissipation. You will be introduced to several blending techniques and considerations and given hand-outs on these methods, including the Top, middle and base note classification system, the odor intensity of commonly used essential oils, odor types, Essential Oil Blending Factors, and more. At the end of this session, you will be able to make a small vial of your own composed blend to take home in a similar bottle to these pictured below.

12 p.m. Closing circle, share your insights, your experience and your creations.

12:30 p.m. Lunch, join with each other for a relaxing organic, colorful, and nutritious meal.

Afternoon: Pack up your campsite and prepare to set sail to travel home, those who are camping on site also have an option to stay an extra night if they would like.

Thank you for taking part in this experience and exploring and deepening your relationship with sacred scents.
